I started this year with the best skin of my adulthood. I had gone through 6 sessions of microneedling to address my melasma that had gotten out of control. I’ve had acne since I was 11, and had some heavier acne scars throughout but noticeably on my upper cheekbone. The microneedling really helped with cellular repair, and adding hydroquinone & retinol helped my skin look more even than I can recall. I finally started having women ask me things like what moisturizer I use, cause my skin was glowing.
My skin appointments were what I had to look forward to monthly, with the first 6 months of last year being some of the most intense confusing times & I experienced a few major friendship losses while spiraling into a depression that I self medicated. My husband and I were working harder with our business & my real estate career than we ever had before. We have been chasing that level of busy for a long time so we just grinded and were thankful for every referral. But that intense yearhad us burnt out in December. We needed a holiday. But travel was still frowned on, so we started planning for where to go when it was ok to get away. We started seeing people traveling to Florida & were ready to make our plans, when I saw someone in Mexico. I reached out to ask what they had to do to go, which was nothing. Turns out you need a negative covivid test to return to the US, that’s it.
5 days into being in Mexico, I could some areas had discoloration. I knew the drill. I wore physical sunscreen everyday and a hat when I could but the whale watching tour I didn’t cause it wouldn’t have stayed on *note to self, bring a ballcap every future holiday. I luckily have my ZIIP beauty device to help – it has 9 different treatment settings including pigmentation, although neither the acne treatment nor the pigmentation treatment should be done more than every other day.
This will allow me to show how effective the ZIIP is at treating pigmentation and serves me a huge lesson about reapplication of sunscreen and how vital it is to always wear a hat now.
